Graham Family Big Day Out!

Posted by Janet
30th October 2007

This was a great way to spend one fine Autumnal morning. After we’d remembered that we had in fact an extra hour to sleep (yeah who are we kidding - we were all up at 6.30 anyway despite the clocks going back…), we went out with Jane and Richard and their three beautiful (and very funny) children. We mucked about, did some leaping around and although the light was harsh we got some great shots. Here are some of our favourites! If you want to see some more, take a look at this slideshow.

We had laugh this morning with Emma and Laura from Macmillan, together with the David, the manager of Northern Bank in Bangor. We do Macmillan’s PR photography and these pictures will be used in their Reindeer Food campaign this Christmas. Northern Bank is supporting the campaign (having supported Macmillan all year with large amounts of cash - v. impressive). Look out for Reindeer food hitting the high street next month!

Thanks for your patience and thanks to all of you who have been hassling us to get these pictures up online! We spent a great evening with Jules and Dave earlier this week before they set off for Kenya and showed them more of their wedding day images. We also loved seeing all their cool pictures from their honeymoon in Thailand. We were very jealous!

You can see the full set of pictures here if you have the password. If you don’t we’ve put a few of our favourites on here, along with a spot of Paolo Nutini who’s a firm favourite on Kenny’s ipod at the moment. As always we would love to hear your feedback on our work so please leave a comment below or send us an email to janet@grapephotography.com

Enjoy.

One of my absolute favourite photographers, Craig Tanner, put this quote on his Light Diary:

The big question is whether you are going to be able to say a hearty yes to your adventure.

Craig’s philosophy, passion and generosity have been an inspiration to me on my journey as a photographer.

The last three days have been such a highlight of our year. we have loved meeting so many new people in such a short space of time and have been thrilled by the positive feedback we received about our work.

I once read:

The goal is not to change your subjects, but for the subject to change the photographer.

We love that fact that each of our clients changes us a little - we learn a little more about our craft and we gain so much from what is shared with and shown to us and so I agree with a photographer friend of mine who wrote:

When you use a camera, not as a machine but as an extension of your heart, you become one with your subject.

End of day 2 of the wedding show and man are we having fun! (as well as eating simply too many dolly mixtures). Just want to say hi to everybody we have been chatting at the show over the last couple of days. Also want to say a HUGE thank you to those of you who chose us for your wedding - we are so looking forward to working with you. Thanks also to those of you who asked us to photograph your beautiful children - we are looking forward to having some fun!

As well as meeting lots of new clients we’ve also been enjoying getting to know some of the other exhibitors. We’re loving ‘joli’ - a new boutique opening next week in Ballyclare. They sell cool, funky clothes, dresses, tops and Janet wanted to buy them all on the spot. The inspirational Dylan McBurney , not only one amazing photographer - also a top bloke.

We’re off to enjoy our sofa, a glass of red wine and a pizza.

We will be at the wedding extravaganza show in the Odyssey, Belfast for the next three days - hurrah! Looking forward to meeting the other exhibitors and to getting to know some new clients. Our suppliers have “had their heads turned” by us over the last few weeks (if you’re not from Ireland you’re just going to have to figure out what that means) preparing everything we needed for the event. Our friends at Alphagraphics and exlaim did an amazing job. We’re really grateful guys.

We’re at stand D12 so please come and say hello! Will post pics of the stand soon - for those across the pond and elsewhere!

Thanks a huge amount to our friends Fraser and Richard at Mayfin Design for their enormous hard work and endless patience in getting our new website up. The website’s now live (which you probably know because you more than likely came here from there). Would love to know what you think of it.
